Happy Saturday! We made it to the weekend and we are now less than one month away from the Belmont Stakes. Will we be headed into the third jewel of the triple crown with a chance to see Mage be the first triple crown winner since 2018 and the 14th horse ever to do it? Yes, we know there is one big race next week that will help answer that question but we wanted to get some reps in now to get a feel for the track at Belmont Park.
Today's card has 11 races, three of which are stakes, with the biggest race coming in Race 5 the $600K Man o' War Stakes(G1T). This 11-furlong race is named after one of the greatest horses of all time and will be run over the inner turf. Man o' War didn't run for a long time but he was very successful going 20 for 21 wins with a major win coming in the Belmont stakes! You won't have to wait long for the next big race as race 6 is the Peter Pan Stakes(G2). This 9-furlong race is run annually in the second week of May. Many of the top 3-year-olds who did not run in the derby are featured here. The weather looks to be cooperating as we will see highs in the mid-70s but mostly cloudy skies.
