Wow, what a day yesterday was, we got our butts handed to us on the track! That won't stop us as the Belmont Stakes Festival from Saratoga rolls on for day two. That's right we can get thrown right out of the gate but we get back on that mount and try to run down the competition no matter what. Today is an even bigger day from Saratoga as we have 12 total races, four stakes, all graded, and lottsa runners. Today's featured race comes in the twelfth race the $500K G1 DK Horse Acorn Stakes. This is the final jewel of the filly triple crown just like you will see tomorrow in the Belmont Stakes. This is a 9-furlong route over the dirt and features the top fillies of the year thus far. The first two winners of the first two legs draw posts right next to each other on the outside as Gun Song, Black Eyed Susan Winner, and Thorpedo Ana, Kentucky Oaks winner, will be in posts 8 and 9. Will we see one of them claim another race cementing them as the top filly this year or will one of the other contenders break through and muddy the waters further in this less talked about division of horse racing?
It looks like the weather person was wrong and the rain has avoided Saratoga Springs thus far. We are looking at highs int he upper 60s with cloudy skies but the rain may hold off until the end of the card. We are seeing a fast track and firm turf so hoping for limited late scratches.
