R8: Shakopee Juvenile S.

[1] Strong Rules

Strong Rules has raced once, a debut win at Canterbury on Aug. 5th. The field of 6 in this year’s Shakopee Juvenile Stakes will also feature another first time winner from Aug. 5th, Heart Full of Soul who enters as the 9/5 favorite. However Strongs Rules did ride away that day earning a 74 Speed figure over Heart’s 64. A different trip will await Strong Rules for his second race as he draws the rail today as opposed to the #6 post on Aug. 5th. Strong Rules will have Ry Eikleberry back at the reigns who over the past 30 days is winning at 25% and ITM at 57%. Trainer Joel Berndt over that same time period is winning at 29% and ITM at 64% and is likely to win his first Canterbury training title. Strong Rules opens the day at 4/1 odds.


R9: Tom Metzen H.B.P.A. S.

[2] King of the Court

King of the Court comes into today’s Tom Metzen H.B.P.A. having won his last two races (July 1st and Aug. 12th - both at Canterbury). While he won the July race by 10 lengths, the Aug 12th Win proved more of a struggle, but he prevailed at the end against Keller’s Gold & Tapizars Secret, both of whom will be racing today. King of the \ Court earned his second highest Speed figure of 102 in the July 1st Win and a 99 on Aug. 12th. Jockey Francisco Arrieta, who was at the reigns on both 7/1 & 8/12 will be back again looking to make it 3 in a row. Over the last 10 days, Arrieta is winning at 26% and ITM at 62% and with Trainer Robertino Diodoro is winning at 29% and ITM at 68%. Morning Line odds for King of the Court are 5/2.
