Churchill Downs has a fantastic day lined up from soup to nuts so buckle up - it's gonna be one hell of a ride. Today's card includes 14 race, an amazing lineup of runners, and features 8 Stakes, culminating with Race 12, the $3 Million, Grade I Kentucky Derby! Check out the rest below:

The worst of the weather appears to be behind us, however we will be starting the day off with a sloppy track and firm turf after yesterday's storms. Temperatures will reach the low 60's and there is a chance of sprinkles this morning. It's not ideal, but, hey, we'll take it if it means we get to watch the Derby!

Let's check out today's Best Value Horse (BVH). What's our BVH, you ask? Our Best Value Horse is probably not going off as the favorite and is unlikely to go off with the longest odds. Simply put - our Best Value Horse is a runner our very own @TSDaveW likes that should be competitive, and, if it hits, you'll be glad you played it! It's all about getting a great price for a good horse. Odds, of course, change throughout the day, however, we're lookin' at Morning Line Odds when making these picks.

This son of Cairo Prince is coming off a 4th place finish in the G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks Stakes for trainer Thomas Amoss. The 3 year old has been posting Equibase speed figures in the mid 90s including a 95 in his win in March in the Black Gold Stakes on the turf at Fairgrounds. Both that win and another back in December (also on the turf at Fairgrounds) were impressively won by 5 lengths. Recent works look good including a bullet on April 26th. I like Portfolio Company for this race but expect Dowager Chief to hit the board & with the morning line at 10-1, this Bay colt is our Best Value Horse.
Long Shot, anyone?
We're lookin' at the Kentucky Derby for this one and we're liking the #8 Horse, Charge It. With 3 races under his saddle, Charge It has finished ITM thrice: Placing January 8th, followed up with a win during a $60K Maiden Special Weight race by 8.5 lengths, then finishing 2nd by just 1.25 lengths to White Abarrio in the Grade I Florida Derby. Being the son of Tappit and with training by T. Pletcher, #8 Charge It is our Long Shot horse for the Kentucky Derby.
