Circa MILLION III // Week 2

The National Football League is definitely back. Monday night's thriller left no doubts and we're one game deep into week two after Thursday night's gem between the New York Football Giants and the Washington Football Team. And the start of week two means it's also week two of the Circa Sports MILLION III Pro Football Contest! Quick refresher for those that missed week one: Each week we are picking 5 games against the spread (lines are published by Circa Sports) for a chance to win the $1 Million First Prize at the end of the season for best record. Last year, we didn't quite finish #InTheMoney, but ended up just a hummingbird's beak's-worth of picks shy. Yeah, it was that close. But this year we're back with a new game plan, a new model, and are lookin' to WIN it all!

We have three entries in this year's Circa Million contest: Firstly, our Turtle Sports proprietary model picks. These picks are made strictly by the numbers without discussion. Our second entry is based on discussion and group collaboration. This involves very professional, well organized round-table discussions amongst well seasoned scholars of the game over a drink or two at our favorite local bar (what up, Glass Turtle?). Our last entry is for the $100,000 BOOBY PRIZE. Get your mind outta the gutter! The way you hit this one is by having the worst record at the end of the season. Okay, you got all that? We found that week two games were more difficult to handicap with - what we believe are - overreactions from last week. This tends to happen more often during early season action. Waters were muddied so spreads didn't always match what we were expecting, but we came together (drank a few beers) and came to a consensus. As previously stated, our model picks are what they are. No real thought process went in to those plays aside from the work that was done offseason during model development. We are impatiently waiting for a Sunday full of football and are ready to see how this week plays out!
