Happy Saturday! We have made it through the long off season and the NFL regular season is finally here! To steal a line from the big guy in the red suit, It's the most wonderful time of the year! All the research, the stat scouring, the player studying, and the digging into way too much information can finally be put to the test. Although the last two seasons did not quite end the way we wanted, we are cautiously optimistic that this year in the Circa Sports Million IV contest we will be getting #InTheMoney. This year on top of the Millions, we will be participating in the Circa Survivor for an extra chance to get #InTheMoney. As usual, we'll start off with a quick rundown of the contest and then we'll get to our Circa Sports Week 1 plays.
In the Millions contest, each week we are picking 5 teams against the spread for a chance to win the $1 Million First Prize for best record at the end of the season. Point spreads for this contest are published Thursday mornings by Circa Sports and remain static through the week. We dialed back a bit this year on our entries in the Circa Million IV contest, we only have one, but added some more fun in the Circa Survivor:
Model Plays: This entry's picks are made using our Turtle Sports proprietary model.
Survivor: Pick one team each win to win outright (spread doesn't matter) and you move one; the catch is once you use a team you can't use them again
Model Plays: 0-0-0 for 0 Points
Survivor: 0-0-0
So that brings us to week 1. The model only produced one pick for us this week, so either the books are on to us or we just need to see how things shake out after a few weeks to hone the model in for this season. Pickles and Finky did some digging and found lines just don't seem right based upon our style of cappin' to help us come to the other selection this week.
