Some fun Del Mar facts:
When Del Mar opened in 1937, co-founder Bing Crosby personally greeted fans as they came through the gate.
At its opening, horse racing was the second most popular sport in America, with baseball taking the number one spot.
The first Bing Crosby Stakes was held in 1946.
Today's opening day 8-race card will be highlighted by the Let It Ride Stakes in R7, a 1-mile turf race on the Jimmy Durante Course. The favorite Daddy Man Shines is our pick to win, but our 2nd pick is the 6-1 (M/L) son of Mo Town. Some potential đľ to be made there.
