Stop two on our cross-country tour of horse racing has us on the West Coast, aka the best coast, and headed to sunny San Diego to play the ponies from Del Mar Race Track. While the sunflower fields are further north and closer to home for us, that does not mean you can't stop and enjoy them still. Yeah, that makes no sense but what does make sense is cashing tickets across an 11-race card. We have two stakes races where one is a win and you're in for the Breeders' Cup in November right here at Del Mar. Race 11 is the featured race which is the $400K G1 Clement L Hirsch and is an 8.5 furlong route over the dirt course for three-year-old fillies and mares. As noted the winner is guaranteed a spot in the starting gate for the Longines Distaff.
Today's weather is typical for San Diego and we will see highs in the mid to low 70s with mostly sunny skies. We will see a fast track and firm turf so there's lottsa action today!
