We had planned to run two cards today and keep you engaged all day long, but due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles, Santa Anita has canceled their racing for the weekend. If you have family or friends in the area, please check on them and offer any support you can.
To keep ourselves busy while watching football, we’re pouring a big glass of real whole milk—not that almond stuff! In reality, we’re using half-and-half to make a White Russian at the bar while watching the races and trying to cash some tickets from the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.
Today's card features nice races, including two stakes events and plenty of opportunities to win some money. The highlight of the day is the 8th race, the $100,000 Gary P. Palmisano Memorial Stakes. This is a six-furlong sprint on dirt for four-year-olds and older, exclusively for Accredited Louisiana Bred horses.
The weather today will be beautiful, with highs in the mid-40s and partly cloudy skies. Due to some bad weather earlier in the week, we will be off turf today, and the main track is rated as good.
Fair Grounds Race Course, located in New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of the oldest horse racing tracks in the United States, with its origins dating back to 1838. Known for its rich history and Southern charm, the track has been a cornerstone of American thoroughbred racing.
