What do cabbage and the Lundin Line have in common? They are cheap and versatile; in our case, the Lundin Line is free, so you can't get cheaper! Today we head to the Big Easy to blaze along the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby prep trail. We have our first races where big changes will come to the leaderboard as 50-25-15-10-5 are awarded to the top horses. There will be a clear separation in both standings after today and we will be a short 11 weeks away from seeing who takes home two of the biggest races in the sport! Today's card has 14 races, 6 stakes, and lottsa runners, we mean lottsa runners. Only five races have less than 10 starters before scratches so we are in for great racing today! The featured races come at the end in race 13 the Rachel Alexandria and race 14 the Risen Start. Both races are grade two prep races but first up for the fillies 3 years old is an 8.5 furlong race on dirt. Race 14 closes us out with a 9 furlong race for 3 year olds. There are no fillies in this race so the boys will get down and dirty in the slop left over on the track after 13 other great races!!!
The weather in New Orleans has been wet and will continue as we kick off today. We will see highs in the low 50s with showers tapering off as the day progresses. The turf is soft so as of the writing of this post we are off turf but sometimes it dries enough to get a few races in so be on the lookout for any changes to what track the later races will run on. The main track is sloppy so hopefully you can get the read on a few of the mudders. We did consider the weather and the potential of coming off turf before we put the Lundin Line ranks together. Conditions change quickly in this sport so make sure you are aware of each race and who's running before finalizing any tickets.
