There is not much better than watching the ponies any day of the week but to do it with a puppy is extra special! For stop two of the day we head south to the bayou of New Orleans, LA, and Fairgrounds Racecourse. Home to multiple derby prep races of which the finale comes today in race 12 the $1M Lousiana Derby. R12 is a 1 mile and 3/16 jaunt around the dirt track. Multiple horses who win this race have gone on to success in the Kentucky Derby, will we see another today? This is the second win and in race today where 100-50-25-15-10 points will be handed out to shake up the leaderboard. Did you think the ladies would let the boys have all the fun? That's right one race earlier in the 11th, the biggest Kentucky Oaks prep so far goes off. The $400K Lousiana Oaks is an 8.5 furlong route on dirt where the winner is in the Oaks that first Friday in May as 100-50-25-15-10 points are handed out. That's right, back-to-back win and in races to close out this awesome card!
Today's card has 12 races, 8 stakes so come hungry, and it kicks off just 15 minutes after our first stop 10 am Pacific time. The weather is warmer than discussed on our last stop with highs in the mid 70s but the winds are gusting down in the bayou as well. The track is fast and the turf is good so we should see a great day of racing with big moves coming for the Kentucky Oak & Derby.
