Happy Saturday as the road to the Kentucky Derby rolls on! Today we are headed to the bayou of New Orleans and playing the ponies from Fairgrounds Race Course. Today is a big day at the track as our next derby prep race will award 20-10-6-4-2 points to the top horses in our featured race, race 13, the Lecomte Stakes. Not to be outdone, the Derby Oaks prep series rolls on as well. In Race 10 we have the Silverbulletday where 20-10-6-4-2 points will be awarded for a chance to start in the Kentucky Oaks. This is yet another chance to see the stars of the future in horse racing as these races are only for 3 year olds and will help one or more horses make the starting gate the first weekend in May. Make sure you stay with us the entire road to the Kentucky Derby, and the Oaks, as we will preview all prep races and of course all three rounds of the Triple Crown!!!
Today's card has 13 races, 6 stakes races, and lottsa runners! The weather seems to be cooperating but very cold with highs in the mid 40s with clear skies. The rain seems to be holding off but there was a freeze warning earlier today so bundle up if you are headed to watch this great day of racing! The track is fast and turf is firm so we are in for another great day of racing.

Today's History Lesson:
Lecomte Stakes-The event was named after the town of Lecompte, Louisiana, which was named but incorrectly spelt after a famous 19th century race horse owned by the Wells family who lived on a plantation south of the town. The horse's name was Lecomte, who is known as the only horse to defeat Lexington.[3] Lecomte's dam was the brilliant Reel.
Silverbulletday Stakes-Silverbulletday is an American Thoroughbred champion racehorse. Bred in Kentucky, she was sired by Silver Deputy and out of the GII winning mare Rokeby Rose. Her damsire was Tom Rolfe, the 1965 Preakness Stakes winner and that year's U.S. Champion 3-Yr-Old Colt
