And since we're watchin' the Preakness tomorrow, we thought we'd get some practice runs in at Pimlico today. Today's card includes 14 Races, including 6 stakes and features Race 13, the $250K Back-Eyed Susan Stakes (G2). The Weather appears to have cleared up a bit so we are hoping the Turf is intact and ready to ride! Temps will be in the High 80's with a bit of wind and less than 50% chance of rain in the forecast. Today's best value horse nearly made it on our best bets section but the others were just a bit better in our opinion so Mandate drops to our BVH!!! This five year old son of Blame and Bonnie's Empire finished 2nd last time out at Laurel Park in the Henry S. Clark Stakes. This was the first race after moving back to trainer Robert J.W. Johnston whom Mandate was trained under for his last two wins in late 2021. He was moved to the barn of Yvon Belsoeur where he did not fair as well failing to hit the board. We see a resurgence today as Johnston has had more time to work with Mandate and bring him back to form. The drop in Class will benefit Mandate nicely as well. Andrew Wolfsont will be in the irons for his only mount of the day, ironically this is Johnston's only horse today, so this leads us to believe they were brought in for this race specifically meaning the Trainer or owner knows something about this pairing.
