Lundin Line Best Bets & Race Notes

R2: Gallorette Stakes (GIII)

[1] Julie Foxtrot (GB)

Julie Foxtrot at 5 years old should benefit from a month off coming off a disappointing 4th place finish in the Longines Churchill Distaff Turf Mile on Sept. 5th. Prior to that, a very nice effort netted her a 3rd place finish in the Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes where she tied her high Speed figure (114). She enters today’s G3 Gallorette leading the field of 8 in average Speed (106) as well as middle (111) and finish (109) Pace Ratings. Over the last 10 days, Trainer Brad Cox with Jockey Florent Geroux are winning at 26% and ITM at 52%. Cox’s horses over the last 30 days are at +11% ROI. Julie Foxtrot opens the day at 7/5 odds.

R5: Miss Preakness Stakes (GIII)

[5] Mundaye Call

This year’s Runhappy Audubon Stakes on Aug. 20th saw Mundaye Call cruise to a Win by 7 lengths over Ocean Breeze and Sconsin. However, Sconsin would exact his revenge on the 3 yr. old philly in the Eight Bells a month later. With the exception of the 4th place finish at the Eight Bells, Mundaye Call has looked extremely good and enters today’s Miss Preakness leading the field with a average Speed of 86 as well as leading with a finish Pace Rating of 87. Trainer Brad Cox with Jockey Florent Geroux are winning at 26% and ITM at 52%. Cox’s horses over the last 30 days are at +11% ROI.

R6: Dinner Party Stakes (GII)

[7] Factor This

The only “blemish” on Factor This’ record for 2020 after 3rd place finish on Jan. 18th was a 2nd place finish in the Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic on Sept. 5th. Prior to that the 5 year old colt racked up 4 consecutive Wins and even the the Place in the Old Forester earned him a career high Speed figure of 112. He enters today’s Dinner Party Stakes with an average Speed of 104, but with higher figures over the winning streak. He also leads the field with a finish Pace Rating of 110 and is 2nd in both early & middle Pace. Cox and Geroux team up in back to back races and fully expect to re enter the Winner’s Circle. Morning Line odds for Factor This are 1/1.

R11: Preakness (GI)

[9] Authentic

The Lundin Line liked Authentic in the Derby and is confident he will go on to Win the 2020 Preakness. While it is true that Art Collector would have altered the pace of the Derby had he not had to pull out and Thousand Words’ unfortunate late scratch also changed the dynamic of the race, Authentic’s raw speed and tenacious attitude should be enough to give Bob Baffert another Derby/Preakness combo win. Authentic leads this field of 11 with an average Speed of 106 as well as leading in early (104), middle (103) and finish (108). Numbers aside, it would not surprise or shock us if the winner is Jesus’ Team, Pneumatic or Swiss Skydiver or if this year’s Preakness ends with a photo finish between Authentic and Art Collector. All of that said - we expect to see Baffert and Authentic in the Winner’s Circle at end of R11. Authentic opens the day at 9/5 odds.
