As we continue to work our way through the NFL's Super Wildcard Weekend, we will also be watching the ponies at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA. If you watched last night's Dolphins at Chiefs game, you know the temperature in Kansas City was -8 ° with a wind chill of -28°. While it won't be that cold in Arcadia, they will be giving KC a run for their money. The temp for today's races is predicted to be 47°, but with the wind chill, it'll feel more like 46°ish (so if you're going, bring a sweater or light wrap!).
Today's card will include Santa Anita's usual offering of 9 races. The featured race will come in R7, the 100K G3 Las Cienegas Stakes, a 6 1/2 furlongs race for fillies and mares, four years and upward on the Downhill turf course. The inaugural running of this event was Feb. 17, 1974 (then known as the Las Cienegas Handicap). If you're wondering what the cost of some average items was back in 1974 - wonder no more:
