Happy Sunday & National Burrito Day!!
California is known for its burritos so we thought let's stay close to home and head to So Cal for today's card. We are playing the ponies from Santa Anita Park where we will have 9 races, 2 stakes, plenty of opportunity to enjoy a burrito, and lottsa runners. Both stakes are scheduled to be on turf and are 1 mile. Race 7 is for fillies and mares four-year-olds and upwards. Half of the field was bred overseas where they specialize in turf racing while only one horse was bred here in California. Personally, I feel this is a good sign based on what national day it is, of course, that's all conjecture not actual analysis. Race 9 is for four-year-olds and upward. This field is dominated by Kentucky bred horses with 7 of 10 being from the bluegrass state. The remaining field was bred overseas and as noted previously, they are very good on turf outside the US.
Today's weather may hamper our two featured races. We are going to see temps in the upper 50s, and cloudy skies with rain forecasted before and late in the card. The sun is supposed to pop out before the card is over but there are no guarantees. Be on the lookout for scratches and potentially being off-turf. As of the writing of this post, there are no updates on the track conditions.
