We all know Turtle Sports enjoys two things at once and today we get to do two of our favorite things, bet on the ponies and drink beer! We are staying on the West Coast today and playing the ponies from Santa Anita Racecourse. A nice 10 race card for day two of the fall meet features five stakes and two Breeders' Cup win and in races. Two horses will earn their starting spot in the November meet just south at Del Mar! Before we get too far into this day let's take a look at the two featured races today:
The California Crown Stakes is a relatively new horse race in the state, established to celebrate California-bred thoroughbreds. Its inception is tied to the broader movement to support the state’s breeding programs and showcase local talent on the track.
The City of Hope Stakes is a prominent Grade II turf race held annually at Santa Anita Park in California. Open to horses three years old and up, it covers a distance of one mile. Named after the City of Hope, a renowned cancer treatment and research center, the race reflects the spirit of philanthropy in the horse racing community. Over the years, the City of Hope Stakes has attracted top turf horses, serving as a key prep race for the Breeders' Cup Mile and other major turf events.
Today's weather is beautiful as we will have highs in the mid 80s and sunny skies. We should see a fast track and firm turf as we are bone dry on the West Coast.
