Happy Sunday & National Meatball Day! ā˜„ļø

We hope you are enjoying this first day of daylight-saving time. šŸŒž Whatever your opinion is of messing with the clocks to get an "extra" hour of daylight, there's one thing we can absolutely agree on - that was a very powerful performance by Owen Almighty in the Tampa Bay Derby. The win ( by 3 1/2 over Chancer McPatrick) moves the 3 Yr. old son of Speightstown to second on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. Congrats to all the connections, including trainer Brian Lynch & jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.

Following the race, Lynch said, "There will be conversation (about perhaps targeting the Kentucky Derby). But if I was to have my way, I'd still stick to the plan and go to the Pat Day Mile," That race is a 600K, grade 2 race on the Kentucky Derby undercard.

However, Payton Boersma, the COO of Flying Dutchmen Breeding & Racing, said, "This horse really showed what he's made of today," he said. "He's going to be really tough going into that Derby. The Kentucky Derby, of course."

Stay tuned for where Owen Amighty ends up for his next race.

While there are no Derby implications on today's card at Santa Anita, we have a very nice 11-race card for you folks, with plenty of opportunities for winning tickets. Our featured race comes in race # 9 with the 100K Pasadena S. (see details below).

So - Grab a toothpick, down some meatballs & win some money before enjoying that "extra" daylight.

Santa Anita Park, located in Arcadia, California, is one of the most iconic horse racing tracks in the United States. Opened on December 25, 1934, it quickly became a premier venue for thoroughbred racing. The track was developed by a group led by Dr. Charles H. Strub and movie producer Hal Roach. During World War II, Santa Anita was temporarily closed and repurposed as a Japanese American internment camp. After the war, it resumed racing and became home to prestigious events like the Santa Anita Handicap and the Breedersā€™ Cup. Known for its picturesque setting against the San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Anita remains a cornerstone of American horse racing.
