There is a rumor about a big game to be played this Sunday. Some have even suggested this game could be classified as "Super." While we work to confirm this rumor, may we offer what will surely be a super day of racing at Tampa Bay Downs?
Today's 11-race card includes four Stakes races. The first feature race will be the 150K Suncoast S. in R5. This 1 mile/40 yd. race on dirt for 3-year-olds will award Kentucky Oaks points with a distribution of 20-10-6-4-2.
Today's card will also feature the Sam F. Davis in R10. This event, inaugurated in 1981, was named after the industrialist Sam F. Davis. In 1972, he became President of the Florida Downs and Turf Club and worked to make the track successful. Davis retired in 1980, with the track renaming itself to Tampa Bay Downs. Since 2013, the Sam F. Davis has been part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Today's running will award KY Derby qualifying points of 20-10-6-4-2. in this 1 & 1/16 mi. dirt race for 3-year-olds. And while today may be National Umbrella Day, we should not need it as there is only a 7% chance of precipitation. 🤞🏻
