Happy Monday and welcome to our new power rankings day! We are only about ten games into the season, but after a nice weekend of baseball, we have gained some clarity. We know you're eager to see the changes we've made to help you stop being mediocre and start winning, so let’s dive right in!
The biggest riser this week is the San Diego Padres, who moved up six spots thanks to an impressive 8-2 start to the season. This team would be in first place in any division except the AL and NL West, but they are in the NL West, which currently boasts the best records. Unfortunately, the biggest faller this week is my Seattle Mariners, who dropped five spots. They hold a 3-7 record after losing all three games to the Giants by a combined five runs, including one loss in extra innings.
Despite a couple of losses, the Dodgers remain clearly at the top of our rankings. I don't see anyone catching them unless something significant happens, such as a major drop-off from them or a surge by a top five team.
Now that our power rankings have been updated, let’s recap briefly as we missed our update yesterday and just posted our plays. On Saturday, we went 3-3, which wasn’t great, for a loss of -0.62 units and an ROI of -10.25%. The bright side of Saturday was that we secured series wins with the Mets and the Yankees, although the Mariners disappointed us by losing their series. If you're wondering, most sportsbooks would void the Red Sox's game since it was postponed, and we are counting it as a push. Be sure to check your book's house rules to see how they handle such situations.
Yesterday, we went 1-2, resulting in a loss of -1.15 units and an ROI of -38.42%. Overall, this week wasn’t terrible, but it wasn't good either, ending with a record of 16-12, a loss of -0.14 units, and an ROI of -0.49%. We believe that with this week’s adjustments, we are in a good position to see some improvement with our Home Run Line.
Today, we have four plays and one series play lined up. Good luck, and let’s get back in the money this week!
Here are a few important points to remember before you start playing any of the games listed below:
1. We will only place bets to risk, not to win. This means we will risk one unit to win whatever the payout may be. There are numerous plays available, and risking one unit can lead to quick losses.
2. We will avoid betting on lines that are at, or sometimes near, -200. Instead, we will assess teams based on the run line to determine if a good play exists.
3. The price listed is the price we found when we prepared this post. We do not shop for prices, as we are located in California and have limited options. All suggested plays will be based on this price, although your bookmaker may have slightly different odds.
4. From our experience last year, our system was particularly effective for series prices, which you will also find listed below. Please remember that the same rules from point 3 apply.
