Valero Open // April 1 - 4

The Valero Texas Open

I know our birdie line has been (insert lost ball pun) away for a couple of weeks, but we’re back! We have had some mediocre performance in the past two weeks: got middle of the pack last week at the Match Play running with Paul Casey and Sungjae Im either way it was low-key a fire tournament. I don’t know where you stand on the matter but maybe sprinkle a little more match play format in the season? It’s a nice shake-up for the casual viewer as well as the golf nut alike. But lets get to the picks for this week: we are going with Abraham Ancer who has only missed two cuts in his last 15 starts with over 80% of those starts yielding top 25 finishes. While he hasn’t performed better than 42nd at the Texas Open since 2016, we still feel that he is poised for a top -15 finish this week. We are also hitching up to Si Woo Kim, even though he has been wildly erratic since his win at the Amex Express in January he finished top 5 in 2019 at this same course, that coupled with his top 10 at the brutal Players Championship gives me hope that things will smooth out for him this week.

Look out for my Podcast debut next week before the Masters.
