Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend and we’re ready to kick it off by playing the ponies from coast to coast. The last time we popped into your feed, we gave you the official cross-country Pick 5; today, it’s the Turtle Sports version of the coast-to-coast card.

We’ll have coverage from lunchtime through dinnertime for two different tracks, so let’s not waste any more time with fluff. We’re starting our day on the East Coast at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, NJ. We chose to dig into this card to get you ready for the premier race of the weekend tomorrow, the Haskell—more on that tomorrow.

Today’s card has eight races to fill up your afternoon, with just one stakes race and lots of chances to cash some tickets. The featured race today is the 7th, the Mr. Prospector Stakes. This is a six-furlong sprint on the dirt for three-year-olds and upward. The race carries a $200k purse with nine runners entered.

This is not the star-studded race most people want to watch and wager on, but these are exactly the kinds of races where there’s often more value. Smaller stakes races typically attract fewer eyes, meaning fewer people moving the odds against your picks.

There is one horse most casual players will recognize: the 3, Book’em Danno. Maybe you know the name from watching him run—or maybe from Hawaii Five-O—but this horse has performed well, with 11 wins in 18 starts over his career. He did not contest the Triple Crown but owns multiple Grade 1 wins and is the rightful favorite in this race.

Today’s weather is going to be great on the Atlantic, with highs in the mid-80s, slightly hazy skies, and no rain in sight. That should give us a fast track and firm turf, so we’re hoping for limited scratches.
