What is the Lundin Line?
Bill always loved the idea of creating a “special sauce” to predict the outcomes of the races he loved to watch. He had tinkered with various formulas for years, but once Covid hit — and horse racing became the only sport to watch — Turtle Sports was born, and it was go time for developing what would become the Lundin Line.
There were countless hours of back-and-forth as we figured out how to take a vast amount of data from the Sport of Kings and distill it into a series of weighted lines that could consistently deliver results on par with — or better than — the major pick services and even the individual track handicapper.
At first, the results were mixed. Some days we thought, “Hey, I think we’ve got it,” and other days Bill’s last text of the night would end with, “Guys, I think I’m done with this shit.” But he wasn’t. The Lundin Line kept developing and evolving.
Once we started consistently running full cards with our Lundin Line picks, Bill began diligently tracking the results — and it quickly became clear we had something special. Our picks were going toe-to-toe with the top handicappers and, on many days, beating them.
What began as Bill’s tinkering has become a full-fledged handicapping engine that Turtle Sports is proud to offer, powered by the ongoing effort of two of Turtle Sports’ founding members, Mr. Fink and Mr. W.
