Day 1 of the Breeders' Cup is here, which means it's time to dig into every Lundin Line card from the year and use that information to help find some winners. Today is Future Stars Day, featuring horses you'll see next year on the Road to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, along with plenty of other major races throughout the season.

Keep an eye on these young horses and take a few notes. That way, when a lesser-known horse you saw today shows up at a fair price, you'll have an edge—and a chance to cash in.

Today's card features 10 races, including six stakes, and offers the first opportunity for one horse to take sole possession of the Derby or Oaks leaderboard with more than 10 points awarded to the winner. The first featured race is the seventh, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, a 1 1/16-mile dirt route for 2-year-old fillies carrying a $2 million purse.

The race serves as an Oaks prep, with the top five finishers earning 30-15-9-6-3 points toward the leaderboard. The winner and runner-up will move to the top of the standings and remain part of the conversation throughout the next six months of the Oaks prep season. Seven of the 12 runners are already on the board, including two previous prep-race winners, so this race could either establish a clear leader or shake up the entire picture.

The next featured race is the ninth, the FanDuel Breeders' Cup Juvenile. It's a 1 1/16-mile dirt route for 2-year-olds, also carrying a $2 million purse. This Derby prep awards the same 30-15-9-6-3 points, and although two horses have scratched, all but one runner has already earned leaderboard points. Three entrants have also won previous prep races.

Enjoy these prep races—not only because they feature top-rated fields, but because there won't be another prep race for nearly a month. The weather should be excellent, with temperatures in the low 70s and partly cloudy skies. The track is listed as fast, with the turf rated firm.

The stakes races will offer a combined $7.25 million in purses, while the full card will distribute nearly $8 million. That's more than some tracks offer all year, so expect bigger pools, larger payouts and, hopefully, plenty of winners for everyone reading.

On another note, Kentucky Derby Futures Pool 1 opens today. If you're looking to find a huge price on a potential Derby winner, this is the time to act. We'll review the odds and likely share one or two selections in the pool, so be sure to check X for our updates.

Happy Future Stars Friday! 🏇
