Turtle Sports Week 1 National Football League Power Ranks

A collection of football power ranks from two of our cappers, along with an AI preview of two divisions, the AFC West and NFC West, with an outlook for each team in the division

- Fink

AFC West

The division remains quarterback-driven: Kansas City’s health is central, Denver has real upward momentum, the Chargers are trying to consolidate, and Las Vegas is developing its young signal-caller.

Kansas City Chiefs — Expectation: Contend if Patrick Mahomes is healthy.

Biggest question: What does Mahomes’ recovery and ramp-up look like after his ACL/LCL injury?

Denver Broncos — Expectation: Playoff contender with division-title upside.

Biggest question: Is Bo Nix fully healthy, and can he quickly build chemistry with the upgraded receiving group?

Los Angeles Chargers — Expectation: Playoff-caliber team, with room to rise higher.

Biggest question: How fast does the offense take shape under Mike McDaniel?

Las Vegas Raiders — Expectation: Growth season rather than immediate contention.

Biggest question: Is Fernando Mendoza ready to establish himself as the franchise quarterback?

NFC South

This is one of the league’s most quarterback-dependent divisions. Atlanta and Carolina have higher aspirations; New Orleans is testing its young quarterback, and Tampa Bay’s health has outsized importance.

Atlanta Falcons — Expectation: Division-title contender.

Biggest question: Who wins the Week 1 quarterback job: Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa?

Carolina Panthers — Expectation: Make a real push for the division.

Biggest question: Can Bryce Young become consistent enough to establish himself as the long-term answer?

New Orleans Saints — Expectation: Competitive rebuild with a chance to surprise.

Biggest question: Can Tyler Shough prove he is a dependable full season starter?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Expectation: Stay in the division race if the veteran core holds up.

Biggest question: Is Baker Mayfield fully healthy and ready to regain his prior level?

Pickles Final Pre Season Power Rankings

If you’re a football fan, tonight feels like Christmas Eve — we’re one sleep away from the NFL season kicking off with a Super Bowl rematch. That’s right, we made it. To start the season, we’re rolling out our final division previews, and we saved the best for last: the West Coast is the Best Coast. Check back with us at the end of the year to see how we did with our analysis.

Beginning Sunday morning, we’ll release our picks for the MyBookie.com Survivor and ATS contests. They’re just like the big Vegas contests, except we didn’t need a proxy — and they’re a lot cheaper. If we add any other contests before Sunday, we’ll share those picks too, along with the platform they’re on. Then, every Tuesday or Wednesday, we’ll update you on how we did over the weekend and share our latest power rankings from Finky and Pickles, plus any insight Mr. W has for us.

A quick note from Mr. W on college football: Temple is only five wins away from bowl eligibility. In the case of his alma mater, that probably means some corporate-named bowl game where only 383 people show up.

AFC North & NFC North Preview from Mr. W powered by AI

This is a camp-opening snapshot: expectations are relative rather than projected win totals, and the “biggest question” is the one camp is most likely to clarify. Roster health, contract situations, and depth charts can change quickly.
