Pickles Final Pre Season Power Rankings
We are one-third of the way through the season, and it feels a bit odd to be writing this post after last week got away from us and we missed it entirely. But all is right in the world again, and we are back on track to share our thoughts on how to get In The Money. You can find the Week 4 recap in Mondayâs plays postâyes, we know that was late, tooâso letâs jump into Week 5.
Regression is real. After back-to-back 5-0 weeks, we slid back to .500, which weâll gladly take in a week when the lines were extremely tight and we managed to avoid a landmine. Finky regressed as well, but Pickles won the week at 3-2. We are currently tied for 35th in the MyBookie SuperContest and are excited to keep adjusting as the weeks fly by.
I guess we have to talk about Survivor, since we never covered the revival we are in. We added five Splash Sports Prop Queen Week 4 Survivor plays, and everything went well, so we carried them all into Week 5. We decided to take the Cowboys in the first game of Week 5, along with what felt like half the entries across every Survivor formatâand we used Dallas twice. What a no-show they put on against a rookie undrafted quarterback, who rode the back of Bucky Irvingâs career night.
It still amazes me that professional playersâsome of whom are not highly paid superstarsâcan look so uninterested during a game. Maybe it was the short week, but that made Sunday even more interesting. Full disclosure: We originally had two entries on Green Bay and one on Jacksonville in London. We felt the Jags were the right side, and after Ditka died, we thought the emotional angle might give the Bears a boost. Well, we were wrongâand we had to get very, very lucky to still be alive in Survivor after the Eagles let the game slip away as time expired. For a while, it looked like another carnage-filled morning for us.
As Week 6 approaches, we are locked in and ready to find some winners to get you In The Money.
College football update: Week 5 brought an upset for Mr. Wâs Owls, who handed South Florida its first loss of the season, earned their first conference win, and gave us hope for that corporate-named bowl in December. However, they followed it with a two-turnover game that dropped them to 1-3 at home. We hope the Owls get back on track as they host one of the worst teams in the FBS, the Charlotte 49ers.
