Week 7 is live as you read this as the NFL kicked off early again, this time from Paris France. We all complain about the early game but we will be missing that early wake up call in May when there is no Football!

NFL power rankings are weekly or periodic lists that rank all 32 NFL teams from best to worst based on their overall strength, current form, and roster quality, rather than strictly by their win-loss record. Analysts use them to evaluate how teams stack up against each other at any given moment.

Pickles Week 7 Power Rankings

We started this week with a bang and are looking to keep that momentum going through Monday night. Thursday night delivered an entertaining matchup featuring two young quarterbacks and two of the biggest names in coaching.

We took a chance in both our Survivor Revival and SuperContest entries by backing the Bears. Full disclosure: we could not decide on a fifth pick or a second Survivor selection, so we decided to go for it just before kickoff. Things were looking good until the end of the first half, when the Bears nearly ruined our Week 7 before it had even started. With no time left on the clock, Stevenson burst through the defense to make it a one-score game.

Thankfully, the Bears held on, giving us a 1-0 start in Pick 5 and ensuring that we will have at least one Survivor entry next week. At this point, Survivor is proving to be a week-by-week contest, because the NFL is a fickle beast and anyone can win on any given day. It will take plenty of work over the next 11 weeks to have a chance to cash in across any of these contests.

This week, Pickles and Finky’s picks aligned, which is not surprising given how closely their power rankings have started to match up each week.

We should also acknowledge—or perhaps admit that we wanted to ignore—our awful performance last week. We went 1-4, 2-2-1, and 1-4 in our three SuperContest entries and lost another Survivor entry. That sent us tumbling from 35th to 303rd in the standings.

But it is a new week, and we are ready to get back In the Money.

Here is our contest breakdown for the year:

  • MyBookie: three SuperContest entries and seven survivor entries

  • Splash: three private-league survivor entries and one player-survivor entry

  • Splash: five Survivor Revival (started week 4)

We also entered a few small contests to add some fun this year, using free play we had available. The Prop Queen player survivor is another interesting contest in which you select one player each week and accumulate fantasy points throughout the season. The catch is that you can select each player only once, with the points adding up as you build a fantasy team and try to score as many points as possible.
